The video module 5 ensures
The video module 5 controls the internal antenna diversity and the screen. The sound for the TV and videotext (takes effect later) functions is also prepared in the video module 5. The video module 5 is a MOST network node.
The MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) bus links the audio, video and navigation systems. Information relating to function requests is transmitted to the relevant control modules by means of MOST bus messages.
There are two TV antennas integrated in the rear window. The receives TV signals are filtered and amplified in the antenna amplifier.
The antenna amplifier is powered short-circuit-proof by the video module 5 via the antenna sockets.
The Control Display (CD) and Central Information Display (CID) are separate components. The Control Display (CD) with the Central Information Display (CID) and the Controller (CON) contains the operation and display elements for the vehicle electronics, with the exception of the ADP functions.
The Control Display (CD) co-ordinates the function requests from the system and assigns them to the individual functions. For the Control Display (CD), the following is displayed on the tester:
The Central Information Display (CID) is the display unit. For the Central Information Display (CID), the following is displayed on the tester:
The navigation data and operation options for the navigation, audio and video functions are displayed at the Central Information Display (CID).
The Controller (CON) is the control element for the Control Display (CD) with the display unit Central Information Display (CID). To run operating functions, the front Controller (CON) is folded out of the center armrest.
The video module 5 contains the following functions:
The Control Display (CD) is the only control module that knows the function (listen radio) set in the system. If the volume is to be increased (function request), the Control Display (CD) sends a message to that effect to the audio system controller (ASK) / amplifier in the form of a telegram. This telegram also contains the information indicating to which audio source the volume adjustment applies. Infotainment audio output is always a certain amount louder than the entertainment sources.
The video module 5 is connected via the MOST bus with the audio system controller (ASK).
The audio system controller (ASK) outputs the audio signals through the loudspeakers.
If the audio system controller (ASK) receives the corresponding information across the MOST bus from the Control Display (CD), it switches the sound signal from
The self-diagnosis function on the video module 5 is initiated every three to five minutes. At worst, a fault may be present for 5 minutes before it is stored in the fault memory. It is possible to start a fault memory search (self-test) in order to check on work carried out.
CVBS signals are color-decoded in the video module because the Control Display (DC) is only able to process RGB signals. If the Japan navigation system is fitted, the navigation uses an RGB input of the video module. The navigation information is forwarded by the video module to the Control Display (CD).
