The use of Top HiFi amplifiers optimizes the sound reproduction. Top HiFi amplifiers are fitted according to the number and type of loudspeakers.
Top HiFi amplifiers are amplifiers with active frequency gates. Active frequency gates achieve better acoustic results than passive frequency gates.
The Top HiFi amplifier is a control module on the MOST network which has following functions:
The Control Display (CD) and Central Information Display (CID) are separate components. The Control Display (CD) with the Central Information Display (CID) and the Controller (CON) contains the operation and display elements for the vehicle electronics, with the exception of the ADP functions.
The Control Display (CD) co-ordinates the function requests from the system and assigns them to the individual functions. For the Control Display (CD), the following is displayed on the tester:
The Central Information Display (CID) is the display unit. For the Central Information Display (CID), the following is displayed on the tester:
The spatial simulation and user-programmable equalizer functions are operated at the Control Display (CD) and Central Information Display (CID).
The Controller (CON) is the control element for the Control Display (CD) with the display unit Central Information Display (CID). To run operating functions, the front Controller (CON) is folded out of the center armrest.
The audio system controller (ASK) is a control module in the MOST network. The ASK audio system controller manages all the audio signals.
The Top HiFi amplifier is connected to continuous positive and ground as the power supply. The Top HiFi amplifier is wakened via the MOST bus. The Top HiFi amplifier becomes active when it
The Top HiFi amplifier is connected to continuous positive and ground as the power supply. The Top HiFi amplifier works in an operating voltage range of 9 - 16 Volts at the control input.
With a voltage < 9 Volts at the control input, the Top HiFi amplifier is automatically switched off. This ensures that the Top HiFi amplifier does not continue to run, e.g. in a parked vehicle.
The Top HiFi amplifier is automatically switched off on engine start-up because the voltage falls below the lower operating voltage limit of 9 Volts for a brief period.
When the switch-on conditions return, the Top HiFi amplifier is automatically switched on again.
In the case of Top HiFi amplifiers, the Audio System Controller (ASK) provides the 7-band equalizing function.
With the 7-band equalizing function, the volume is raised in a co-ordinated sound range to balance out noises generated by the vehicle acoustics while the vehicle is being driven. The volume of the individual frequency bands, and particularly the lower frequencies, is individually adjusted in response to the speed signal.
The Top HiFi amplifier features a spatial sound function which enables improved space acoustics. The spatial sound effect is particularly effective in conjunction with ”pure” sound sources (CD mode).
The spatial sound function is switched on when terminal ”R” is switched on (identification lock in position 1). It is switched off by means of the Controller.
Note: The spatial sound function is not recommended for predominantly voice reproduction or poor radio reception.
