Repair instructions for defective convertible top wiring harness

Complaint

Convertible top cannot be opened or closed, or has sporadic malfunctions.

Cause

Convertible top function disrupted and warning lamp on the switch flashes. Convertible top wiring harness is scuffed in the area of the left C-pillar due to a sharp-edged bolt. The consequence is a break in wiring or short circuit to ground.

Repair instruction

Open the convertible top half way. Uncover the convertible top wiring harness and repair it. See Fig. 1.

Note

After the repair, fit the cover caps on the sharp-edged bolt. See Fig. 2.
In the case of new vehicles about to be delivered to the customer, fit the caps as a preventive measure.
