RGB and composite color picture output signals (video)

The signals required for different use are generated in the video module.

Brief description of components

Video module

In the video module, the HF signals supplied by the antenna amplifiers are conditioned and converted to the LF level for further processing. The following are generated:

Information is also transmitted by the video module on the MOST bus.

The video-module outputs are monitored by fault memories.

Central Information Display (CID) with controller

Central Information Display: With a few exceptions, the Central Information Display (CD) incorporates the display elements for the body electronics. The CID is controlled by the headunit.

Headunit: With a few exceptions, the headunit incorporates the control elements for the body electronics. It transforms the video signals from the video module and outputs the picture on the CID.

Controller: The Control Display is operated by means of the Controller located on the front center armrest.

MOST bus

The MOST bus (Media Oriented Systems Transport) links the audio, video and navigation systems. Information relating to function requests is transmitted to the relevant control modules by means of MOST bus messages.

Main function:

The TV requests pass directly from the headunit to the video module. The video module implements these requests and places the audio LF on the MOST bus.

TV function:

The video module switches its received and conditioned signals to the headunit. The headunit converts the composite color video signals into LVBS signals and forwards them to the CID.

TV function with optional extra Navigation Japan:

The headunit passes the TV request to the video module. The video module switches its received and conditioned signals to the headunit. The headunit converts the composite color video signals into LVBS signals and forwards them to the CID. The video module places the audio data on the MOST bus.

If the navigation function is requested via the headunit, the RGB signal is passed on by the navigation via the video module to the headunit. The headunit converts the RGB signal into LVBS signals and forwards them to the CID.
