E85 Central Information Display CID

The CID is the primary display unit for the following scope of functions:

Its own functions are limited to the control of the motion of the screen, logging on and off the K BUS and a small degree of communication with the navigation computer (optional video module) as well as filing information for diagnosis in the fault memory.

Brief description of components

In principle, the CID consists of three different units:

Main functions

The functions of the CID include:

The operating voltages are generated from the vehicle voltage. The microcontroller switches the power supply of the CID, controls the inverter, the motor and the ARGB driver by processing the K BUS signals.

Operation

The CIDs is folded down using the control buttons and rotary pushbuttons of the MD/CD53 CID operating unit if this leads to a display of new information (e.g. do not control in the case of volume) or optionally with the switch to the right on the CID. Here, a signal is set on the K BUS.

The switch on the right can be used to fold up the screen, whereby the route guidance navigation is not cancelled.

When the ignition key is removed, the screen is automatically folded up, whereby the last folded down position is stored.

Fine adjustment (from 85 to 108 degrees, whereby the resting position is defined as 0 degrees) is also possible manually by means of the switch on the left of the CID. The signal is sent locally to the control electronics and/or the drive motor (not via the K BUS).

Operation (folding up/down, fine adjustment) can also be manual.

Service functions

In the event of damage, the complete CID (all 3 units) must be replaced.
