Pedal-position sensor DDE 4.0

The DDE control module is informed of the position of the accelerator pedal by means of electrical signals generated by the pedal-position sensor.

Function

The pedal-position sensor is designed as a twin potentiometer and features three connection pins per potentiometer.

The potentiometers take their 5 V power supply and ground connection from the DDE control module.

Depending on the angle of rotation, they return different measured voltages to the DDE control module. This control module evaluates the measurement voltage and converts the voltage value into pedal-position sensor setting as a percentage.

Idling and full throttle position

The idle and full throttle positions are detected by way of the voltages of the pedal-position sensor.

Troubleshooting

The pedal-position sensor is found to be defective if:

• a short/open circuit is detected in the electrical lines
  
• The supply voltage is found to be faulty or
  
• the plausibility between both potentiometers is breached
  

Consequences:

• Injection volume is limited
  
• A/C compressor is inhibited
