Throttle valves DDE 6.3 - M67TÜ

A throttle valve is necessary for all diesel engines equipped with a particulate filter system. The throttle valve chokes the intake air to ensure that the increased exhaust-gas temperatures required for regeneration of the particulate filter are reached. The throttle valve is actuated by means of an electrical actuator engine.

The M67TÜ has two particulate filters arranged close to the engine (one per bank) and is therefore also equipped with two electrical throttle valves.

The throttle valves are closed while the engine is being shut down; this reduces shaking of the engine during the shutdown.
After stopping the engine, the throttle valves are opened again.

Note:

Throttle valve 1 is located in the direction of travel on the left and it is responsible for the air supply of bank 2. Throttle valve 2 is located in the direction of travel on the right and it is responsible for the air supply of bank 1.
