The Rear Controller (FCON) is the central control element for the Rear Display (FD) on the backrest of the driver's seat and the Rear Display 2 (FD2) on the backrest of the passenger's seat.
The folding Rear Controller (FCON) is located at the front end of the center armrest. For operation, the Rear Controller (FCON) must be folded down.
The Rear Controller (FCON) is connected directly to the control module of the center console switch center (BZMF) by a ribbon-core ribbon cable. From a functional point of view, the rear center console switch center (BZMF) has nothing to do with the Rear Controller. The bus lines K-CAN SYSTEM as well as positive and ground supply are simply looped through the rear center console switch center (BZMF).
The positive and ground connections to the Rear Controller (FCON) are split between three separate leads in order to keep the continuous current load at the connector within the permissible limits.
Operation of the Rear Display (FD) and of the Rear Display 2 (FD2) is by means of a rotary push button on the Rear Controller (FCON). The rotary push button can also be shifted from a resting position in 8 directions.
The Rear Controller (CON) is equipped with a variable tactile feedback for the rotary motion of the rotary push button. When the Controller is rotated for the purposes of selection functions, it provides tactile (i.e. tangible) feedback. This type of feedback is achieved by activation of a direct current motor in the Rear Controller (FCON) with pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals.
The Rear Controller (FCON), the control module Rear Display [control module Rear Display (CU-FD) and control module Rear Display (Gateway) (CU-FD-GW)] as well as the Rear Display (FD) and Rear Display 2 (FD2) can be used to operate the following functions and/or call up information regarding the functions:
The strength of the tactile feedback differs according to the menu option. It distinguishes, for example, between lists, function blocks or shield areas and end stops.
