Operation of the automatic transmission

The automatic transmission is operated with the selector lever and rocker switches on the steering wheel.

Controls

The following controls are available:

• Selector lever:
  
  • Each selector-lever position is transferred to the transmission shift device via Bowden cable from the selector-lever position switch
    
  • In selector-lever position M (manual mode), the shift commands upshift or downshift are transferred directly to the transmission control module with operation of the selector lever
    
  • The selector-lever position controls the shift-indicator lighting via the selector-lever position switch; each drive position is lit up. The engaged gear in the manual mode is displayed in the instrument cluster
    
  • The Shiftlock solenoid valve activates the selector lever interlock if the brake pedal is not pressed. The drive position can only be engaged when the brake pedal is pressed.
    
• Rocker switches on the steering wheel:
  
  • In selector-lever positions M (manual mode) D (automatic mode), the shift commands upshift or downshift are transferred directly to the transmission control module with operation of the rocker switches
    

Transmission shift device

The transmission shift device is activated via Bowden cable by the selector lever position switch and it transfers the engaged drive position to the transmission control module.
