The mechatronics of the GM6 automatic transmission consist essentially of the electrohydraulic transmission control module and the hydraulic selector unit.
The electrohydraulic transmission control module is divided mainly into the following components:
The EGS control module controls gearshift points, the shift quality, engaging and disengaging the converter clutch, as well as the line pressure. The EGS control module and all the electronic control elements, for example pressure control valves, solenoid valves and engine speed sensors are integrated in one assembly, the electrohydraulic transmission control module.
The hydraulic selector unit is similar to the selector units commonly used until now in transmissions. It is also designed as holder for the electrohydraulic transmission control module.
