On the present engine, it is necessary to carry adaptations and/or learning functions after certain workshop measures. This can be the case after the following actions:
In general, there are also service functions for the adjustment of functions (e.g.: idle speed). These service functions serve to enhance the positive operating characteristics of the engine.
Measures after replacement of the engine management system:
In this case, the service function <Adaptations/ learning functions> <HFM, throttle valve, cooler bypass> must be run completely to train the initial values for all of the stated functions (HFM, throttle valve and cooler bypass). The same applies to the service function <Adaptations/ learning functions> <Exhaust gas recirculation>; these must be carried out to train the initial values for the EGR. The values for injector volumes must also be calibrated (the values from the ”old” engine management system are to be saved in the replacement engine management system). The latter is implemented using the service function <Calibration programs> <Injector volume calibration (IMA)>. Moreover, after fitting a completely new engine management system, a calibration of the starting values with the electronic immobilizer [EWS] is to be carried out to enable starting the engine: service function <Calibration programs> <Starting value EWS>.
Measures after programming the engine management system:
In this case, the service function <Adaptations/ learning functions> <Exhaust gas recirculation> must be carried out to train the initial values for the EGR. The service function <Adaptations/ learning functions> <HFM, throttle valve, cooler bypass> must also be run completely to train the initial values for all of the stated functions (HFM, throttle valve and cooler bypass).
