TCU E60, E87, E90: Registering the snap-in adapter (only in Korea)
From March 2005 onwards, the telephone system in Korea is set up as follows: The connection between the TCU control module and the Bluetooth-capable snap-in adapter is a radio connection with Bluetooth radio standard. The connection between the snap-in adapter and the mobile phone is a wire connection.
So that the Bluetooth connection between the control module and the snap-in adapter works, the snap-in adapter has to be registered once at the TCU control module.
Procedure with CCC/M-ASK
The snap-in adapter is registered without the DIS tester. For the entire duration of the registration, a switched-off mobile phone must be inserted in the snap-in adapter.
- On the Control Display, select the following menu:
Start menu --> menu ”Settings” (press the controller) --> menu item ”Communication settings” --> menu item ”Bluetooth” --> menu item ”Settings”
Activate Bluetooth. When Bluetooth communication has been activated, ”Bluetooth communication active” is displayed with a check mark at the start of the line.
- Exit from the ”Settings” menu.
In the ”Bluetooth” menu, select the menu item ”Telephone”. ”Bluetooth can be connected in this menu” is displayed.
- Enter the Bluetooth passkey of the snap-in adapter via the Controller. This 4-digit number is located:
- on the label attached to the snap-in adapter,
- and on the accompanying sheet delivered with the snap-in adapter.
- The connection setup between the TCU control module and the snap-in adapter is then automatic. The connection setup can take up to 2 minutes. When the connection has been set up, the name of the snap-in adapter is displayed on the Control Display.
Procedure with RAD2
The snap-in adapter is registered without the DIS tester. For the entire duration of the registration, a switched-off mobile phone must be inserted in the snap-in adapter.
- On the radio, press the ”MENU” button.
- On the Control Display, select the ”TEL” item.
- On the Control Display, select the ”BT ” item.
The list of Bluetooth devices connected to the TCU control module is displayed. The TCU control module can support a maximum of 4 Bluetooth control modules at one time. In order to be able to register a snap-in adapter, the list of connected Bluetooth devices may have a maximum of 3 entries. If the list has too many entries, entries must be deleted using ”DELETE” until the list has 3 or fewer entries.
- Insert a switched-off mobile phone in the snap-in adapter. The LED of the snap-in adapter should light up or flash.
- On the Control Display, select the ”SEARCH” item. ”Bluetooth devices pairable...” appears on the Control Display.
- Wait until the following message appears on the Control Display: ”Ext. Device Ready!”.
The waiting period can last up to 2 minutes.
- On the Control Display, select the ”ADD” item.
- Enter the Bluetooth passkey of the snap-in adapter on the Control Display. This number is located:
- on the label attached to the snap-in adapter,
- and on the accompanying sheet delivered with the snap-in adapter.
- On the Control Display, confirm the entry with ”OK”.
- If the registration of the snap-in adapter was successful, the LED of the snap-in adapter is no longer lit. In addition, the name of the snap-in adapter appears in the list of connected Bluetooth devices.
All snap-in adapters have the same name. The currently active snap-in adapter is marked in the list with a check mark in front of its name.
To check whether the present snap-in adapter is currently active, the mobile phone should be disconnected. If the present snap-in adapter was active, the check mark in front of the name of the snap-in adapter is replaced by a number on the Control Display.
- If registration of the snap-in adapter was unsuccessful, the message ”Bluetooth pairing failed” appears on the Control Display.
Possible causes of this are:
- The Bluetooth passkey was incorrectly entered and does not match the Bluetooth passkey of the snap-in adapter. In this case, repeat the registration
- The TCU control module attempts to connect to another Bluetooth device.
This can occur if there is a vehicle nearby with another snap-in adapter. In this case, remove all Bluetooth devices in the immediate surroundings and then repeat the registration.
Appendix: procedure for checking the operability of the LED of the snap-in adapter
- Switch on terminal 15.
- Insert a mobile phone in the snap-in adapter.
If the LED of the snap-in adapter lights up, it is working properly. If the LED of the snap-in adapter does not light up, it is damaged.
