Fuel tank catch switch

Function

An incorrectly secured fuel tank cap causes an error message in the leakage diagnosis module. To avoid this error message, a switch is installed in the fuel filler neck. This switch checks whether the fuel tank has been closed correctly.

Failure

If the engine control module receives this error message, the leakage diagnosis is deactivated. The engine control module sends a signal to the instrument cluster, which activates the MIL lamp.
