Shiftlock is a safety function that prevents inadvertent movement of the vehicle by locking the selector lever in the ”PARK” position. The selector lever is released by pressing the brake pedal. As an option, the system can also lock the selector lever in the ”NEUTRAL” position.
If the shiftlock relay fails, the unlock function cannot be activated. This prevents the engine from starting.
