Convertible top storage compartment locking mechanism

On vehicles as of 09/2005, the convertible top has an additional storage compartment locking mechanism. Here, the opened convertible top is locked in place when stored.

Fault in the area of the convertible top storage compartment locking mechanism

A faulty storage compartment locking mechanism leads to the following fault patterns:

• Red LED for convertible top continues to flash with convertible top stored
  Although the convertible top is stored, there is no locking
  The storage compartment locking mechanism has an electrical defect or the Bowden cable has disengaged.
  
• The convertible top remains in the 75 % position after opening
  Micro-switch of the storage compartment locking mechanism is faulty (fault code memory entries 29 or 30 are stored)
  
• The storage compartment locking mechanism has an electrical defect or the Bowden cable has disengaged.
  The storage compartment locking mechanism has an electrical defect or the Bowden cable has disengaged.
  

Bowden cable on the drive of the storage compartment locking mechanism

The Bowden cable must be properly engaged. Replace damaged Bowden cables. Also replace the Bowden cable if it keeps disengaging.
