Repair instructions regarding rattling noise in the area of the convertible top hydraulic cylinder

Complaint

On trips over poor road surfaces or uneven roadways, rattling noises can occur at the connection points of the hydraulic cylinder at the main bearing.

Cause

Manufacturing tolerances lead to loss of pre-tension between the mount and hydraulic cylinder.

Repair instruction

Open the clamping bracket and remove the luggage compartment trim panels on both sides in accordance with repair instruction RA5147151 or RA5147161 to make the main mount accessible.

1. Remove the clip and bolt. See Fig. 1.
2. Lubricate the contact surfaces on the main mount and the bolt. See Fig. 2.

Note

For vehicles with production period up to 25.10.2004, replace the bolt.
