Repair instructions regarding rattling noise on the 4th convertible top bow strut

Complaint

The customer complains about a rattling noise from the rear-end of the convertible top. See Fig. 1.

Cause

In very rare cases, the cause can be an incorrectly installed spring on the 4th convertible top bow strut.

Repair instruction

Check the springs on the 4th convertible top bow strut and replace if required. The convertible cover does not have to be fully removed to check the springs. The springs can be checked in the half-opened convertible top position, as shown in Fig. 2. From the direction of vision shown in Fig. 2, the spring must show three coils. Please also take note of Fig. 3. In the event of a complaint, replace springs with only two coils.

Note

For better identification of the spring, it is shown in Fig. 4 without the convertible cover!

The corresponding springs and shims are included in the fastening set for bow struts.

Important!

In order to avoid high warranty costs, it must be ensured before the repair that the noise originates from this position.
