Repair instruction regarding cracking noise after closing the convertible top

Complaint

The customer complains about a cracking noise after closing the convertible top.
The cracking noise can be heard with a delay after closing. See Fig. 1.

Cause

Under certain circumstances, the counter support of the sliding sunroof panel is not correctly set and is tensioned.

Repair instruction

Set the counter support as described.

1. Remove the rear cover. See Fig 2.
2. Undo the screws shown in Fig. 3 on the inside with the convertible top closed.
3. Makes sure that the counter support is placed evenly and is centred on the convertible top lock. See Fig. 4 and Fig. 5. The counter support can be adjusted using shims.
4. Check the rubber ring on the counter support for damage an apply grease.
5. Then retighten the screws.
6. Complete the work on the vehicle.
