Brief description of components

Seat module driver's side/passenger's side

Depending on equipment, the front seats are equipped with different seat modules. Two module sizes are used:

Module with 10-chamber plug connection
Module with 8-chamber plug connection

In the case of seats with an adjustable lumbar support, the module with 10-chamber plug connection is used.

The seat module is fitted in the corresponding seat.

The seat modules are linked across the K CAN PERIPHERALS data bus to the control units of the body area.

Allocation of the seat modules

The seat module recognizes the installation position from the wiring harness coding.

Temperature monitoring

The seat modules are equipped with internal temperature monitoring. The temperature monitoring enables limitation of the power loss in the seat module by reducing the functionality. The reduction in functionality affects

the soft start
the maximum adjusting time
the heat output of the seat heating

Diagnosis

In addition to the fault code memory, there is also an information memory for the seat modules. Data is stored in the information memory in the following cases:

Excess temperature of the control unit
Undervoltage detection

The information memory is checked and evaluated in the test module ”supply” of each seat module.
