Door modules
The door modules register the signals of the switches and sensors installed in the doors and control the drives installed in the doors. Information is received and sent via the K-CAN PERIPHERALS data bus.
The functions differ in the individual door modules depending on the vehicle equipment and installation position.
The door modules are connected to the switch blocks in the doors by a one-wire data bus.
Components and functions
Switch block, driver's door
From the switch block in the driver's door, functions are operated with the following control elements:
- Control element for mirror adjustment
- Button for folding mirror
- Outside mirror selection switch (slide switch for outside mirror operation on driver or passenger side)
- Buttons for power window, driver and passenger door
- Buttons for power window, rear door left and right
- Button for switching off the power window function on the rear doors and disconnecting the inside door handles of the rear doors. When the function is activated, a red light emitting diode lights up in the button.
Switch block, passenger door
The passenger door switch block only operates the power window of the passenger door.
Switch block, rear
The power windows in the left and right rear doors are operated with a button from the rear switch block.
The signal transfer to the door module is across a one-wire data bus.
Power windows
For the function of the power windows, each door module measures:
- the voltage supply of the power window
- the direction of rotation and the speed of the power window motor
- the required actuating force of the power window motor
- the position of the window pane.
In the interplay of the power window mechanism with the electronics unit and the door module, the following functions are possible:
- Manual operation (first detent)
- One-touch function (second detent)
- Convenience opening and convenience closing (all windows are activated simultaneously by the remote control or the locking cylinder)
- Emergency closing (closing the windows without anti-trapping protection)
- Anti-trapping protection
- End-position cut-out
- Soft ON/OFF (soft start-up of the power windows on closing and opening)
- Speed-controlled opening and closing of the windows
- Protection of the drive against overheating
- Country-specific versions
- Diagnosis via sensor wires (for interruption and short circuit; not for ohmic loads)
System lock
At the system lock, the door module controls the functions:
- central locking system (control from CAS, Car Access System)
- SCA Soft Close Automatic
Door light
The door module controls the functions of the door light:
- Door entry lighting
- Warning lamp (red, driver and passenger door)
- Cold and hot monitoring of the light sources
Mirror adjustment and folding mirror
The front door modules control the adjustment drives in the outside mirrors and the drive for the folding mirror function.
Mirror heating
The data for the mirror heating is supplied to the front door modules via the data bus K-CAN PERIPHERIE. The heat output is controlled via the outside temperature and wiper operation.
Electrochromic exterior mirror
For the function ”automatic darkening” of the outside mirrors, 2 cables are looped through the front door modules. The function is controlled through the inside mirror.
