E65 operational test of telephone USA

Telephone E65 USA with Motorola mobile phone, type V3690 (as at 06.09.2000)

The test sequences are for troubleshooting without a diagnosis tester. The possible customer complaints are divided into 4 test sections.

Test section 1

Run test section 1 in the case of the following complaints:

  1. Despite spiral cable connection, the cellular phone is not charged
  2. The lighting and sound signal do not function during the cellular phone connect
  3. No display of telephone functions on the MMI
  4. No hands-free mode possible

Run hardware-specific self-test via diagnosis (internal fault recognition)

Read out defect code memory

Are communication faults between the control unit and cellular phone stored in the fault code memory?

 

YES ==>

Erase fault memory; check mobile phone cradle / wiring harness

Test section 2

Run test section 2 in the case of the following complaints:

  1. Poor voice quality in the hands-free mode
  2. No good connection to called party
  3. No hands-free mode possible

Connect functioning cellular phone, spa into the cradle and leave flip closed; terminal R is switched on, radio, CD or navi are in operation

Use a vehicle operating unit (MMI / TeleCommander / MFL) to set up a call

Does the radio / CD or navi go mute? Does the dialling tone sound from the loudspeakers? Is the caller understood when call accepted?

 

YES ==>

General fault in the MOST bus system; check ASK if necessary

Compare voice quality between hands-free mode and cellular phone. Are there quality differences?

Test section 3

Run test section 3 in the case of the following complaints:

  1. Permanent display of ”Searching” in the cellular phone display
  2. Empty battery symbol in the display despite coilcord connection
  3. Weak reception of the mobile phones in standalone mode
  4. Weak reception despite coilcord connection

Does the signal strength change in the cellular phone display?

Cellular phone OK; change vehicle or cellular phone location

Replace cellular phone; send original cellular phone to Motorola

Is the switching signal 'Compensator ON/Off' and the voltage supply with diagnosis Comp On present?

Is there a level display in the cellular phone display?

 

YES ==>

Control unit and comparator OK; cellular phone not OK

Test section 4

Run test section 4 in the case of the following complaints:

  1. No status indication of the telephone on the MMI
  2. No display of the entered telephone number per cellular phone
  3. No display of the entered telephone number per TeleCommander
  4. No display of the caller/called party
  5. No display of the phone book
  6. No display of the LastDialList / UBAList
  7. No representation of SMS
