Condensation prevention IHKA RR

The humidity on the windscreen as well as the temperature of the windscreen in the vehicle interior are registered by the so-called condensation sensor. The IHKA control unit evaluates this and other relevant information. If imminent windscreen condensation is detected, a program for condensation prevention is started.

The intensity of the countermeasure depends on the position of the setting wheel for the defrost function.

Program for condensation prevention

If imminent windscreen condensation is detected, the following measures are initiated successively or in parallel:

• Switch from recirculated air, AUC or automatic recirculated air mode to partial fresh-air mode
  
• Switch from partial fresh-air mode in the case of recirculated air, AUC or automatic recirculated air mode to fresh-air mode
  
• Switching off the floating evaporator control
  
• Further opening of the defrost flaps
  
• Increase in the blower air volume
  
• Reduction in the air volume for the footwell area
  
• Reduction in the air volume for the ventilation area
  
• Increase in the desired temperature value
  

On success, the measures are gradually cancelled.

Influence of the position of the setting wheel for the defrost function on the intensity
