The mechatronics of the GM6 automatic gearbox consist essentially of the electrohydraulic gearbox control module and the hydraulic selector unit.
The electrohydraulic gearbox control module is divided mainly into the following components:
The EGS control unit controls gearshift points, the shift quality, engaging and disengaging the converter clutch, as well as the line pressure. The EGS control unit and all the electronic control elements, for example pressure control valves, solenoid valves and engine speed sensors are integrated in one assembly, the electrohydraulic gearbox control module.
The hydraulic selector unit is similar to the selector units commonly used until now in gearboxes. It is also designed as holder for the electrohydraulic gearbox control module.
