Procedure for commissioning or adjusting the active steering (AFS)

The adjustment of the active steering (AL) must be carried out after every wheel alignment and/or after work on the steering system in the order shown:

• Initialise total steering angle sensor
  
• If applicable, perform axle adjustments with the kinematics diagnosis system (KDS)
  
• Run steering-angle sensor adjustment
  
• Clear SZL fault code memory
  
• Clear DSC fault code memory
  
• Reset the engine location angle
  
• If ARS is included as an option, clear the learning values for steering angle
  
• Carry out an initialisation drive
  

Note

The initialisation drive must include a short, straight distance as well as a steering angle to the left and right.
Until the initialisation drive has been correctly carried out, the AFS warning lamp remains lit up.
