In accordance with legislation, it must also be possible in future on diesel engines to read out so-called ”readiness codes”. Within the framework of the exhaust-gas test, the readiness of the system for inspection must be determined before the test by checking the readiness codes. The vehicle must be prepared for this within the framework of a conditioning drive.

• Reading the readiness codes via the EOBD interface enables a check of whether software-internal diagnosis routines have been completed.
  
• After deleting the fault code memory, the readiness codes must be reset after checking the functions.
